I can't tell you how many times we are reminded of who we used to be. Whether it is consequences from the past, old friends who re-enter our world, or the accuser of the brethren, we are constantly reminded of our past. Being marked with tattoos and scars, it is hard for me to argue with the voices that come against me. When we are fighting for redemption, it is scripture, or the "sword of the Spirit," that’s a weapon we can use that’s impossible for our past to defeat. When we declare to the world, the flesh, and the devil that we are indeed a new creation in Christ, we are compelled to walk in our newness and truly bring about redemption of the old life that tries to drag us backwards.
Lord, write this word in our hearts! Arm us with this powerful truth that You have given us and empower us to walk in our new life that has been, and is being, redeemed by Your atoning work! Amen.
